BeeFamily Privacy Policy

Introduction
BeeFamily is a family organization app developed by Works on my machine AS ("we", "our", or "us"). BeeFamily helps families stay connected through messaging, calendar, tasks, and notes. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Information We Collect
Account Information
- Phone Number: Used for authentication and account verification via SMS OTP.
- Display Name: The name you choose to display to your family members.
- Profile Photo: Optional avatar image you upload or select.
Family Data
- Messages: Text and image messages sent within family chats.
- Calendar Events: Events and appointments you create.
- Tasks: To-do items and their assignments.
- Notes: Notes you create and share with family members.
Device Permissions
- Camera: Used only when you choose to take a photo to share in chat or set as your profile picture. Photos are uploaded to our secure servers and shared only with your family members.
- Photo Library: Used only when you choose to select an existing photo to share in chat or set as your profile picture.
- Location: Used only for the voluntary location sharing feature in 1:1 chats. When you accept a location sharing request from a family member, your location is shared for a limited time (15 minutes to 2 hours) that you choose. Location data is only shared with the specific family member who requested it and is automatically deleted when the sharing period ends.
- Notifications: Used to send you push notifications for new messages, task assignments, and daily summaries.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the BeeFamily service
- To authenticate your account
- To enable communication between family members
- To send push notifications you have enabled
- To provide daily summary notifications (if enabled in settings)
- To improve our service
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely on Supabase servers located in the EU (Stockholm, Sweden). We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. Access to your family's data is restricted to authenticated family members only through Row Level Security policies.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties except:
- With your family members (as intended by the app's functionality)
- With service providers who assist in operating our service (Supabase for hosting, Firebase for push notifications)
- When required by law
Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us. Location sharing data is automatically deleted when the sharing period expires.
Children's Privacy
BeeFamily is designed to be used by families, including children, under parental supervision. Children's accounts should be created by parents, and parents are responsible for their children's use of the app.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your data
- Withdraw consent for optional features
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
